Terms of Reference

1. Background/context

In the current context there are many issues confronting nursing which are of concern.  Organisational policy silences many nurse leaders who are constrained from expressing concerns about issues such as staffing, patient safety and budgetary issues, educational standards and locations of teaching.

2. Purpose

The Nursing Futures Taskforce brings together a range of nurse leaders to ensure sharing of critical information particularly from those who do not have freedom to speak.  The cross section of leadership positions ensures that any planned actions or responses can be well-informed and well-targeted.  As such the Taskforce is a point of cohesive contact within the nursing profession for diverse stakeholders and an opportunity for synthesis of nursing leadership direction. The taskforce provides grounded intelligence to those members who have freedom of speech and action.

3. Membership

• Members are nursing leaders from health organisations, academics, professional bodies

• Membership is voluntary, fluid and not representative

4. Role of members

• Be committed to keeping other members informed as much as possible about issues and developments that are arising in their individual locations

• Members with freedom to speak will write and publish as deemed useful

• Participation in other activities as determined by the Taskforce.

5. General

[i] Meeting arrangements and requirements

• Meetings will be held by Zoom fortnightly

• Meetings may be called in between scheduled meetings if a member considers a discussion is needed. Where agreed, all out-of-session decisions will be reported back at the fortnightly meeting

[ii] Meeting notes procedures

Meeting notes will be documented after each meeting with key action points

[iv] Document Control using shared drive

All documents will be stored on-line for access by Nursing Futures Taskforce members using the www.nursingchampionz.nz website, under the Nursing Futures Taskforce tab. Documents will include meeting notes, key documents, key action points, submissions
